As I was reading the assignment due for Thursday I had a random thought pop into my head. The way these people react to Genly is much like our society. I would say that our society really isn't open or accepting of change. Genthen is scared of Genly; they're scared of change. Change is really scary whether we move and have to meet new people, or for them to accept that there really is something else out there-perhaps even fear of what the future is to bring. The unknown is really scary, I know it is for me.
